Score cable jacket, avoiding inner wrap and fibers, along the lineal length to the end. Expose approximately 16"
of fiber.

Pull back jacket to expose raw fiber. Cut off approx. 8"
of raw fiber and set aside. These fibers will be used as spacers to fill excess capacity in the ferrule.

Cut off excess jacket. Slide black plastic strain relief onto cable to be tightened later. Insert fibers in ferrule extending approx. 3" beyond ferrule end.

Screw black plastic strain relief onto ferrule. Use cut fiber spacers to fill excess capacity of ferrule diameter.

NOTE: All spacer fibers must extend out beyond strain relief to avoid heat damage to fiber. Hand tighten strain relief nut to secure all fibers in ferrule.

Allow hot knife to heat. To begin cutting, elevate back of hot knife slightly in order to cut with blade edge only.

Push the hot knife (flat edge down) into the fiber bundle, spanning the entire diameter of the ferrule.

Slowly cut the fibers with the ferrule. Do not leave hot knife on the fibers for an extended amount of time to avoid hot spots or burns to the fiber.
